Montpelier, VT- The Agency of Transportation (VTrans) announced that the Route 7/Shelburne Road project in South Burlington and Shelburne will resume on April 4th. The 2005 season will complete the major aspects of the 3.2 mile reconstruction project, including the median dividers, bike lanes, sidewalks, u-turn and jug-handle lanes to reverse direction, and new traffic signals. Landscaping and final enhancement work will be completed in 2006.
"This portion of Shelburne Road is one of the most heavily traveled routes in the state," said Secretary Dawn Terrill, "We appreciate the community's patience and cooperation throughout the construction period. We are confident the increased safety and reduced congestion will be well worth the investment of time and money."
The agency will hold public meetings for both the Shelburne and South Burlington communities to update residents, commuters and other interested members of the public on the current status of the project and the details of the 2005 construction phase.
