US ROUTE 7 CORRIDOR STUDY
The
US 7 Winooski to Georgia Corridor Study was initiated in 1999 by the
CCMPO and the Northwest Regional Planning Commission. The study was
completed in September 2001. Its purpose was to develop strategies to
address long-term transportation needs along and near the corridor,
assess the impact of land use patterns, and develop strategies with
the four municipalities of Winooski, Colchester, Milton and Georgia
to plan effectively for future growth along US Route 7.
The study was conducted by a consultant team headed by Oman Analytics
under the direction of a study advisory committee (SAC). The SAC consists
of two representatives appointed by each municipality, professional
staff from each municipality and representatives from the Vermont Agency
of Transportation, CCTA, Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission,
Northwest Regional Planning Commission, CCMPO, the Vermont Transportation
Alliance and the business community.
A final document was prepared and dated September 28, 2001. This website
contains links to Adobe Acrobat files containing the Final Report, which
synthesized all the work done in six prior technical memos into a comprehensive
transportation plan for the corridor that included major new transportation
facilities and services, land use and development strategies, site specific
design alternatives and an implementation and funding schedule. Please note
some of the files are very large and will require long download times if you
have a telephone internet connection. Paper copies of the study are available
from CCMPO upon request.
