2030 MTP Development Schedule

The CCMPO has begun the process of updating its Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP). Although the 2025 Plan was only adopted in January 2005, this process is beginning now in order to better coordinate with the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission's Regional Plan.


The Regional Plan's land use element plays a pivotal role in the analysis of transportation alternatives - a crucial task in designing and assessing different transportation strategies to tackle future needs and problem areas. The CCMPO Board has decided that the 2030 MTP will be an update to the 2025 version and not a "start from scratch" project. The 2025 format and content are largely seen as offering a meaningful approach for regional long range transportation planning.


Listed below are the main tasks in developing the next MTP, the parties involved, and when we expect work tasks to be undertaken:

Use the Decision Support System (DSS), the land use allocation feature of the transportation model, or other similar tool to analyze a selected land use/transportation issue and use this as discussion for transportation alternatives development.
